You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
Essentailly DC-B AR is an eclectic gathering of people that have joined together to share experiences and ideas and then create events revolving around the skill-sets required to succeed in a 24 hours or longer event. Skill-sets such as kayaking - white water and open water, Mountain Biking, Trail Running, Repelling, open water swimming, orienteering/navigation and fast hiking are required to compete in longer/larger events. Considering all of this you add the component of accomplishing these events with co-ed teams of 3-4 and even support crews gives the combination of all of these disciplines an added primal quality. You know like ranging over large areas with a small group of other humans like humans have done for more than 100,000 years. Not the sort of thing you get to do on your typical white-collar day I'll say.
So what type of events... First and foremost we will leverage the talents of current club members by creating events planned and executed by our members like most clubs. In addition to that, we are constantly researching events planned and organized by outside organizations in the various disciplines. We will then offer the information needed to compete or even setup official DC-B AR club events so we can experience the challenges/clinics together.
Some of us are striving to compete at the highest levels while others are taking their time learning one discipline at a time or working on improving overall conditioning. Some people are just along for the ride more or less and they want to support old friends and make new friends along the way. So whether you are a serious athlete in top condition or someone in moderate condition there is a place for you in MDAR to both learn and train.
