- Introduction:
- "Been riding and racing for years, started with triathlons, but found AR's and AR training much more fun!"
- What's your strongest AR discipline - biking, paddling, trekking, ropes, navigation? Your weakest?
- "Strongest is navigation and strategy. Weakest is ropes."
- Have you participated in an adventure race before? What is interesting to you about AR?
- "Yes. I enjoy the challenge of the unknown, the thinking aspect of the races, and the team component."
- Have you learned how to use a compass and map to navigate?
- "Yes."
- Have you ever mountain biked on a trail at night?
- "Yep. Lots and lots of fun and not nearly as scary as you might think if you have never tried it."
- Have you ever reached a point in an adventure (race or not) where getting dirtier/wetter didn't matter any more? Did that feel like despair or freedom?
- "Yep. Puked all over myself in the middle of one race. (Is that dirtier AND wetter?!? Yuck.) But it poured buckets of rain about 30 minutes later, so I got a nature shower. That was despair, but we finished the race. What I learned - Never change your pre-race meal!"
- Additional information:
- "If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!" If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run - Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son! "
