We have a fun, challenging race setup for you. It promises to have a little bit of everything, including a couple of mystery challenges. You'll bike, trek, run, paddle your way to a number of checkpoints. And you'll have the option of carrying your bikes on your boats (don't want you to get out of practice). It's only an option, however. The O' course will take place in conjuction with BOK's regular meet. Starting point will be at Umstead North access point, which is off HWY 70, so racers will be riding their bikes to that point. Be sure to bring bike locks.

****Original Information
This is the fourth practice race in the Praxis series. Note the date change from the series write up in the message board by Pat. The race will take place at LCCP and surrrounding area (Umstead, renegade trails, etc). Start will be at the back paddle put-in parking lot. Expect to mountain bike, run, trek, paddle, all with navigation. There will be mystery challenges. Refer to Pat's message board information on the series for general information. They still apply.

65K MTB race held in the NC Mountains, past race offerings have been at Dupont Forest but no details have been released regarding this race other than the date.

This is a ultra-classic event but very doable for an intermediate level rider. If you're looking to do your first MTB endurance race this would be a very good choice. A couple decent local riders finished in 6HR range in 2007

So, I have been thinking about after race food options. Talking to Pat and Don, who really thought a Chargrill finish would be super cool, I decided on the following:

1. Bring your own food. The grill will be open for use and I have plates, cups, and condiments.
2. After the race run over to Chargrill, pick something up, and bring it back.
3. I'll have Chargrill Menus at check in, you can place an order and pay, and I'll arrange to have the food waiting on your return. If your late to the finish, it may be cold.

Looks like Sunday is shaping up to be a nice sunny Autumn Day, but with a nip in the air.

***********************************************************

I planned the course this weekend and I think you'll enjoy it. A couple changes:

- Each team will need a digital camera to verify going to a couple Control Points.

- One of the tunnels is pretty dark, so you may need a flashlight :o)

- I still could use 1 or 2 volunteers. So if you are interested, please email.

Hope to see you there!!!!!
Bob
